Getting candies out of carpet depends on how long they’ve been there and what’s the sort of the candies. If you act quickly they may not become stains. So clean up the spills immediately!
But if you come back from a week-long business trip, of course, you discover the candy later. Your husband has done nothing about this smashed piece of candy and now everything is dirty and adhesive, and all over the carpet, there are traces from the candy. Don’t be discouraged – you can still do something without having to call professional London cleaners.
1. With a white cotton cloth or paper towel blot up all the liquids. Then scrape out if there is any dried big chucks, using the edge of a spoon.
2. Using a bit warm water, try to remove the remaining candy stains. Blot this up and rinse repeatedly. Use cotton cloth or paper towels. The sugar will be removed by the water. The candy should come right out.
3. If you still can see the candy, mix dish detergent in little bit warm water. Apply this a bit at a time. Don’t rub heavy! Soak it up with white cloth or paper towels. Do that till you stop seeing the stain. Rinse with water and then blot up the moisture. Dry the area quickly using a fan, placed nearby.
The problem with some candies is that they can colour the carpet and cause permanent stains. Vinegar and peroxide could help in this case but better call cleaners in London. Because they’ll give you professional advice and will deal with the stains. This will make you sure that even if you’re not able to deal with the stain, there is someone who will take care of it. And now children’s birthday parties or your business trips are not such a problem any more, right?!
